Hotel California
The Eagles

Easy Piano Cover

"Hotel California" is a song by the rock band The Eagles and was released in February 1977 as the title track from the album of the same name. The song is the band's signature song which has been performed by the Eagles over 1000 times live.

It won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978. It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked in the Top 10 on several international charts.

My goal is to always create a super easy piano arrangement that sounds good and is fun to play.

I learned Hotel California by the Eagles from a lead sheet, which is sheet music that just shows the right-hand melody notes and chord symbols. (see example below)

I improvised the left hand part by using blocked and broken chords, and I played a simple, single-note melody line with my right hand.

Before I knew any chords, it would take me weeks to learn a new song. After I started learning chords, I could learn a new song in less than an hour. I was able to do this because I no longer had to read the music notes for the left hand.

  • Knowing chords allows me to create my own piano arrangements. Now all I read is the right hand melody on the treble clef.
