"Just The Way You Are" is a song written by singer/songwriter Billy Joel. It was from his fifth studio album titled, The Stranger, and released in September 1977. It became Joel's first Top 10 hit in the US, and charted in the Top 20 in the UK.

The song topped the Billboard Easy Listening chart in January 1978 and won Joel Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 1979.

My goal is to always create a super easy piano arrangement that sounds good and is fun to play.

I learned "Just The Way You Are" by Billy Joel from a lead sheet, which is sheet music that just shows the right-hand melody and chord symbols. (see example below)

Before I knew any chords, it would take me weeks to learn a new song. After I started learning chords, I could learn a new song in less than an hour. I was able to do this because I no longer had to read the music notes on the bass clef.

• Knowing chords allows me to create my own piano arrangements. Now all I read is the right hand melody on the treble clef.
